Although its been literally months since I first read about the new Nissan GT-R, I keep seeing the same stats and Im still in awe by the posted numbers. 0-60 in 3.5? With 450 HP? 450 lb ft might help you get there. But 3.5?
The most shocking number I have seen is a drag coefficient of .27  .... Thats extremely low. I know that Nissan has its AWD system right and 450 HP and TQ is amazing, but 3.5 seconds to 60? A .27 CD of drag helps, but slippery aero doesn't really play a big role until illegal speeds. It has to be in the new dual clutch transmission and gearing.

I have to say if I had the money I would still be undecided between it and the upcoming Corvette ZR1. The GT-R looks good, but not that good numbers be damned.

I think I would also go for the new Chevy Corvette ZR1, because it has a supercharged V8 engine, capable of 200+ mph on a test track, and a window to the supercharger in its domed hood.

I'm so excited with that..

not very subtle but point taken. I appreciate how you mentioned the supercharger window, we all take that seriously.
It just seems that the performance specs from Nissan on the new GT-R are SOOO larger than life its difficult for me to take them seriously. I just don't see the car selling for less than 90 THOUSAND dollars. I know that the entire industry says otherwise, but a FLAGSHIP/ HALO car should be a feasible purchase for most people. Its an unprecedented technical feat of engineering if the specs are accurate and I applaud Nissan for it.

It's funny that this is titled Shock and Awe.  Motor Trend has an article on the ZR1 titled the same.  I'm tired of all the numbers.  Nissan has done a lot of bragging about it's 'Ring numbers, then the ZR1 runs better numbers and then it's "Wait for the zspec!" or whatever Nissan calls it's special edition.  The only truly impressive 'ring time I've seen was the Dodge Viper nuts pestered Dodge into running the ACR version on the 'ring, and Dodge just showed up with two of them, dialed in the factory-adjustible suspension, and beat both times.  They didn't design their car for the 'ring, they just went to see what it can do.  That is impressive.
