'88 Honda EF Need JDM engine help!

What's up everyone. Man, I haven't been on these forums forever, it's feels good to be back.

Alright, so I have a '88 Honda Hatchback Civic. It's a faded blue and stock everything aside from the headunit, front speakers, and subs. This being said, I don't have airbags, air-conditioning, or power steering. Haha, I even have drum brakes in the back! I have the sedan version engine in my car... ZC5, or something like that.

Believe me, I've thought long and hard about doing anything to this car. I went back and forth... I wanted a new civic, but yet had this old JDM civic. But I now know for sure, what I want/will be doing.

My goal within the next 2 months, is to put a B18B, the Integra LS motor, into my car. I also want to get LS Vtec installed on that.

My friend told me that he could get me a $600 dollar deal on Tein SS coilovers... which would normally cost over $1,000.

From there, I want to get the AEM V2 intake.

I'm not sure about exhaust yet. My friend was thinking that an HKS would work well, but I'm not sure if I agree with him.

Alright so I know I'm asking a lot, but I need to know whether you agree/disagree with the engine or anything else, or whether you have any suggestions with what to do.

I do want to go all motor, so turboing or supercharging are out of the question.

Thanks a lot. I will post pictures in a bit!

sounds like a plan. you don't need forced induction on such a light car like that. i don't know how easy of a swap it is though into an older civic. Exhaust side i would say keep it quiet.  I would like to see a sleeper.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about sleeper status. And the LS motor fits fine... so that won't be a problem. But I am so stoked, I've had this car for 1 year and a half, and it had been killing me not to work on it. I had trouble deciding whether to spend extra money and buy a new car or just stick with this one and make it fast for cheap... and it's just very relieving to know that I can finally do it.

b18b motor will fit in your civic but will require a few things, Requires engine, B series cable trans, ecu, OBD0 to OBD1 wiring jumper harness, half shaft, axles, shift linkage and Motor Mount Kit.

as for engine choice i'd spring for the b18c1(gsr) even if your low on money you can get a b16a with a cable tranny for around the same price
as for the coilovers jump on them

It sounds like you are doing all the right stuff, I would agree with you and go for a sleeper.

I agree with the b18 when u get just start with a b18 a1 thats allready v-tec i think u should concider looking a little hard for a grs integra motor instead of going threw the trouble of putting the v-tec head in
but other then that sounds like a sweet plan

b18b or b18a would be a good motor to start with.  After that I would say get a good header and intake, then go find a muffler you want and then just get exhaust made at an exhaust shop. Get a b16 tranny and throw in a lightweight flywheel. Then get some suspension parts.

That would be a fun ass car.  Mine is fun but I'm ready for turbo again.  Check it out!!

Good luck with whatever you do
