i think that scc needs to go in a slightly different way with a new project. i think they should do a sedan but not any sedan... a 1990-1991 Honda Civic Lx, Dx, or Ex. i also think they shouldnt run the typical honda motor swap like a B series, H series or even a K series but should try the SOHC side of honda motoring... the D series. the exact engine  i think they should do is the d16A6, the 1988-91 CRX Si motor and the 1990-91 Civic Ex sedan motor. i would like to see a non-vtec SOHC engine be able to tear up the drag strip but also the circuit in a 4-door. this car wouldnt have 17 inch rims and gaudy spoilers and body kits but would have 15 inch rims and a nice suspension and maybe throw on a lip preferably a VW VR6 lip. it would be niceto see if they could do a crx front end conversion because the one peice bumper looks better than the 2 piece bumper with the bumper filler between the hood and bumper. - Aaron

or we could start with a turd.  The reason why this wont happen is because it is old, way too old. there was already a project civic, one of the better ones.  if we're talking honda and 4 door i'll put my vote on tsx, wait that happened.

yes, but unfortunately they can not tend to everyone's wants. they never worked on the d engine in their project car, but there was an article on a turbo d series. a little bit

I agree, how about an XR4TI, turbo rwd and in Europe awd. BMW 3 or 5 series, Turbo Volvo, Mitsubishi Conquest/Chrysler Starion, Turbo Shadow.
these are the cars most people drive for a budget racer. if i bought a new car the last thing i would do is void the warranty by racing it.

Did someone say Mitsu Conquest??
That's what I'm talking about!  Deep dish rims standard you say?  What's that, a turbo?  Count me in!

Hey, I'd love to see an article about the car I drive:  1990 Toyota Celica AllTrac, but frankly, not enough people have them...only 2,500 sold in the US...so fat chance of that...however, my daily driver is a 91 CRX Si...but why beat a dead horse?  I don't need to read an article to see what could be...I can just look to each side as I drive down the streat to see a modded CRX.  Or just look online, there's plenty to choose from.  Man, it's like I'm caught between too much or too little...

yeah, the honda's are turning into a FWD mustang/camaro, after awhile not much new to be seen.
I'd like to see an AllTrac, totally spaced that one.
How about a CVCC

sohc non vtec 4 dr civic would prolly not be very fast no matter what u did to it, unless boosting it of course.  even so it would be pretty slow compared to the many other honda engine combos you could do.  lets see a classic import like 70's celica, corolla, datsuns, maybe even 80's hondas.  then swap a new gen motor into those bad boys.  game over

yes... 71 celica packed to the gills with a 7m gte..or if they realy want to test their sanity, convert a 5th gen gt-s celica to an alltrac....

I think SCC should use the honda fit as a project car, there are parts readily available, the car is good on gas (which is crucial now), and can be used to haul a lot stuff around in, such as a llama.

yeah, a fit would be cool. or maybe the sedan yaris? i know its kinda ugly (in my opinion) and as slow as your grandma's scooter but i would like to see what scc could do with it. they look like they are light and could be made to handle decent.

and i know im going to be criticized, but what about a cavalier/cobalt? the new cobalts have the ecotec engine and it would be cool to see one that wasn't made into a drag car or a poster car for auto-zone.

As a Fit owner I'm kinda in the wall here. My opinion would be considered null and biased, but I can highlight some points on the Honda Fit.

Good    :
*Good on gas
*Carry all friends and stuff
*somewhat stylish compared to its counterparts
*Big windshield compared compared to counterparts
*Smooth drive-line
*Rev-happy engine
*Better fit (no pun intended) and finish
*A somewhat wide assortment of aftermaket support
*Almost perfect all around view from inside
*Good on the environment
*INGS+1 kit with Canards available   (look at avatar^ )

Bad    :
*The bloody BRAKES! Who said they had to be electronic?!
*Brakes loose grip on rain (like today)
*Lots of body roll
*Understeer galore
*Insufficient suspension travel
*Won't ACCELERATE! (regular gas...Like today)
*The A/C is bigger than the engine
*People are starting to pimp them out
*People are putting those ghastly "red" Honda badges.
*A-pillar covers the 45 angle view.
*Head rests on the back seats cover rear view.
*The radio dial is too sensitive and you'll turn off the radio by mistake and it'll take forever for you to press the bloody nob until it turns on and the volume will be on low now.........!!!!.....!!!!

Overall its a bit better than its counterparts like the Yaris, golf, reno, and others; but its my opinion and I do own that car so you'll have to pick at it until some decision is made. Though when my friends ask me if I'm gonna do something to the car I tell them, "Nah, its a Fit and its the family car." But then again the Sentra SE-R, WRX, EVO, and many others started out as family cars so...?

On the Cobalt/Ion issue I'd say yes if its the base base version W/ AC. No power windows, no leather, no nothing useless and luxurious. You know like the rental cars which offer interior features like: Grey, on grey on another hue of grey... Those can be acquired cheap(not a rental car though god knows what its been through...) and It's good for those who want a cheap moderately potent car if modified.

Lets call it Project Hertz LOL!

I'd personally love a b-segment project, of the practical variety. Something like a Yaris S sedan, a Fit, or dare i say, and Accent.  Say what you will about modifting a Hyundai, but its small, light, and suprisingly fun to drive.
