Hi guys im a new poster here and I have a question. The only complete brake kit ive been able to locate for my Spec V is the Stillen Brake kit that retails for 1200$ or so. I have found quite a few different OEM rotor replacements such as brembo, stillen and EBC. My question is this, will I see enough braking improvement without going to the track to warrant the complete kit vs Just upgrading my stock rotors and pads and rebuilding my old calipers?its about half the cost to do it that way. Im not new to the import tuner scene as far as knowing that its here and what it is, but this is my first Import hot rod. I'm also 32 with kids so im not a street racer either, rather I just like to get frisky in the corners and make the occasinal 5.0 mustang mad

Actually we don't do the whole Import Tuner Scene here either we just run whatever we can....call it the poor man's forum
Well I'm not an expert on brakes but I do know some fundamentals. Yes, both OEM replacement and Big brake rotors are cross drilled and/or slotted and you can get the same type of pad on your existing caliper.... The only difference is that a big brake kit has a larger mass so it'll absorb more heat than your regular rotors so brake fade doesn't occur as fast and you'll be worrying more on the turns than on.... well dying.... . That and the calipers on big brakes have more pistons so the pad is applied as evenly as possible, also the calipers are bigger so they grab onto more mass as well. I'd go for for the big brake kit. It helps knowing you can stop.
watch this is it happens in about the 4min 29sec part.

You should look for your local track days where you live though. They're fun, there's a lot of cool people and there's none of that whole "my car is badass so I'm a badass type of thing.", and you get to hone in your skills and wonder what your warranty covers when you get off track Just kidding, but yeah you should try it.
