The question was "How come this forum's dead?"

I've come to have a conversation about cars with my boss' son. It was kinda weird being him the son of the person who signs my check, but here goes.

I was reading the new issue, it was Friday, and it was the last day before my week's  Vacation   . I was thinking of all the things I won't have to deal with managing that stupid warehouse full of Lizards and what not  (I call each one I catch Little "Chui" after my boss ). Then he pops up. He starts by saying. "Hey you into cars?" I glance at him indifferent and say "its a hobby...." Taken aback a little he says. "My dad just gave me his Eclipse." and smirks. I'm still indifferent and say "awesome..." and turn  back into my reading. Getting the message of "I don't care" he just goes. "What should I do to it?" I tell him of things he should do, but then he says something called DSM whatever that is? (really I don't know what that is ) I tell him he should come to this forum, because there's people here who could help him more than me on "DSM...." Which I think stands for "Distraught Super Models?.." And have seen that acronym here once or twice.  Without a word he goes away and I go back to reading.
Ten minutes later he comes again and says. "I didn't like it....." I turn around to him and say. "What?...." He leans against the wall and says. "There's just you and only like five other guys there." I stand in silence 'cuz that sounds about right and smirk; he continues by asking "How come this forum's dead?" I then start thinking about it and look around and try to find an answer. He finishes  "I'm going to import tuner when I get home."

After work I leave heading towards the car with Bizzarro me or Patrick (seriously If I told you you'd say that too.) We see a silver Eclipse with the bottom part of the bumper broken off showing the radiator and some hoses come by and the boss' son appear out of the window  and say. "Well I'm going to check Import Tuner first and ask them." Like if we had a sort of agreement or something. I nod and take one step and I hear "Man you'll find nothing but idiots there trying to pimp out beat-up green corollas in there." It was Patrick clicking the unlock button to his beat up green corolla. I chuckle and say "That or Fits" We both chuckle then bizzarro me goes "Yeah...your car's gay." I lash out at him and say "You drive a corolla!.. You have no self-esteem...." in a hate-filled way. He dipped his head down and says "yeah......I'm an alcoholic" By the time we look back the punk is awestruck and somewhat bewildered and says "yeah I'll check it out...."  and goes about his ways.

But its quite a realization. How come its dead here and the poser (I hate using the term "ricer") mags are filled with idiots talking interesting and innovative ways to make a car slow and exuberant if I may use the word?

I don't think I fully know what exuberant means either

yeah i wish i had more time, if not school then work. Currently I'm working at Anheuser-Busch.  So make sure you give me job security and drink budweiser, and other AB products.

Yeah... This forum and magazine reader is more the...Out of high school now job/college type. I took a peek at Import Tuner the other day, and its all about the whole "Type R" thing and a very weird spot for ugly girls to pretend to be models section. More of a 13-16 magazine where semi-naked chicks are still considered "Ooooo. "

I wish the magazine would open up its demographics to the "I can't afford jack as far as a car" reader. Then maybe more people would come. Maybe some 80's MR2s or Mitsubishi Starions or maybe an 80 turbocharged Supra or Nissan 280/300Z-T? Hell a Spirit Turbo!.....Is there like a e-mail where you tell them geeks things like these?.. who knows.... I'm babbling now. I got to go back to bed and enjoy the rest of my vacation.....

Dude, ive consumed enough AB products to secure your retirement. I wouldn't worry about that. Back to the real issue, this forum is pretty dead and that sucks. A few years ago this place was full of dedicated, knowledgeable and mature gearheads. Arguably the smartest guy here was 7MGTEjoe, he had a wicked 80s Supra. Another good guy, SpiritTurbo (who incidentally wrote main welcome note) had a cool Spirt Turbo (what a surprise). There are too many others to mention, but it does show a broader demographic once occupied this place.

The forum used to be laid out way differently and was arguably more intuitive to use, and the switch to this new style pretty much killed it off.

DSM stands for 'diamond star motors' which was the collaboration  joint company in the 80s and 90s between Chrysler and Mitsubishi, resulting in the unlikely platform sharing of cars like the Eclipse/Talon , 3000GT/ Stealth. There were others but thats all I remember.

It does suck that this forum is dead but at least we can live with the fact that SCC is the greatest magazine ever.
