if they did do a buildup i seriously doubt they would build it to 400hp

for all u guys who bash the J...Ignorance must be bliss huh?  well, i mean its not AWD, and doesnt have 300 hp in stock trim so it must be garbage, right?  You cant compare a STi or an EVO to a J.  thats like comparing a Camaro to a J.  Just because they are both "sport compacts" doesnt mean they are in the same class of vehicle.

i would take my ECO sunfire over a Civic EX or whatever everyday of the week and twice on sunday.

Mod for mod a 2003 Sunfire or Cav would take a civic (or comparable).  i mean sure, a 2200 with a 3 speed auto is not a fast car by any stretch...but the ECO and the Quad 4 are kind of a differant story.  i mean how many "sport compact" cars do u know of that can rip second gear with an automatic?  ive never seen one.

frankly...im getting tired of 800hp Supra's and 500hp STi's, and civics that can rev to 10k.....its time to do something differant.  and i think a J is the right choice.  

EG Civics or S13 240SX's weren't meant to be sports cars, but they can be made so, so who's to say that J-Bodies can't be? I personally wouldn't buy one, but that's just a matter of taste. What makes a Honda better than a Sunfire? You can't use the excuse that they are mostly AutoZone ricers; for every Fast & Furious Cavalier you see, you'll see five Foci that look like retarded TIE Fighters. There are engine swap possibilities, they're cheaper than Hondas of similar vintage, they don't get stolen as much as Integras, and you can even get one as a convertible. I think SCC should have a project J-Body, but I don't know if anyone on the staff is going to buy one.  

i wouldnt put an S13 anywhere near a j-body.  even though S13s in america didnt come with the same power as the JDM counter part, the drivetrain and chassis dynamics are still the same, far better chassis than a civic or j-body.

It is what it is, which at least in my opinion isn't much worse than anything else in its class.. at least not the 2003-2005 models with that 2.2 liter ecotec engine. 140horse with 150ft/lb of torque stock, and (or so I hear) a GM manufactured supercharger kit is available for these cars which is supposed to put around 250hp to the crank on stock internals? I'd really like to see if thats true or not, and what kind of 1/4 mile times the car would get with that setup. A J is only what, 2600lbs? That might be interesting.. very interesting.

The stock handling may suck, but who keeps the suspension stock on a sport compact car that they're working on? Besides the same old bolt on replacement parts most people do- I've heard that you can supposedly even put independent rear suspension on these cars, which is something I hope SCC does, because I'd love to see the process on how that is accomplished, and if the benefit is worth the work.

I hope they do build this car. It would be interesting to see what they do with it..  

civics have the double wishbone suspension going for them for cheap.  And their interior doesn't suck.  And 240's just lack a little power, but great platform.  

I would like to see a J-body project car, the best looking would be the 3rd gen Z24's.  I have owned one and enjoyed it - they had a lot more torque then competitor rides and once I had put on header/intake/hptuners chip mod I could easily run in the 14's.  Good on gas - decent handling after I put on kyb agx shocks/lowered it and put on sway bars.  I personally think they looked a lot better than their competitors: civic - bland, protege - boring, etc.  They also came with more horse/torque than most of their direct competitors.  I say SCC should go for it.  

let them do it let'em do the bloody car so they can all shut up. It's badass its better than a civic! its... Have you noticed that that's all they compare their cars with? why not a 240sx or an SE-R, or an RSX-S, just civics and I bet they're not even the SI's. Just them rices with their little hatchbacks. let them do it who cares its all going down to helll anyways. Saturn SC1 instead?...thought so...stubborn people.  

J bodies suck
I "raced" a newish sunfire with the 5 speed. but the next stoplight, which is about 3 blocks away, I was double him in length.
Oh, and my car is a high 14 second car, even slower that i can't go to full throttle because my turbo goes straight to overboost.
I still would like to see them do one, just for shiggles.  

You know what, you're right... you can't compare a J-Body to an EVO or an STi.  But you know what you can compare them to?  a DSM.

A 1g DSM is the project car SCC should have picked up.  Its rediculously superiour to any bloody J-body.  factory turbocharged, AWD, legendary 4g63 motor, etc.  HeII, I know guys running low 12's on the STOCK 14b turbo.  You J-body nuts can't hold a candle to that.  It honestly is superior in every aspect from price to overall performance.  Truth is, when it comes to a true budget tuner car, a DSM is a great choice.  A J-body?  Not so much.  

I would have to agree, the first gen dsm's are great budget racers.
But so what, I have seen plenty of fast talons/eclipse/laser, *** I've lost races to enough of them, but I would like to see a j body for something different.

But if I had a personal choice I would like them to do a CSX-T Shadow. But I wouldn't ever expect them to put one in.

I've changed my opinion.  I don't think SCC should do a jbody project car.  both above links illustrate why.  

I think the Jbody project idea should be dropped.
