I just bought a 1997 Dodge Neon pretty cheap..Well my problem is that I can get it to start but once I go a mile down the road it dies. And I have change the spark plugs & wireset and today I changed the MAP Sensor out and I got it to start, but I turned on my a/c and it died....Would anyone know what could be causing this and would it be something I could fix on my own..

Does it start right back up after it dies or does it need to sit for a while?

It wants to start right back up after it dies, but it just turns over and never starts...I let it sit over night it does start up once or twice, but as soon as I turn on the a/c it dies....

is it when the car is idleing that this happens?  In this case it could be improper idle speed or the ignition timing needs to be adjusted

mastershake, you owned a fiero? The Fiero has a love/hate following so I'm curious to know what you think about it. My dad owned an 87 with the v6, not the GT. He let me drive it once when I was 13 and it had the sloppiest shift/clutch action I have ever experienced. I really didn't know how to drive then, but a couple years later I learned to drive a manual on our Volskwagen Vanagon and it was so fffing easy in comparison.

Anyway, Pontiac must have thought they could compete with the MR2, and it looks like they failed miserably.
What are your thoughts on the Fiero? Sorry to derail this thread but the fiero is an interesting car, I hear the snap oversteer was almost uncontrollable.

I HATE it to tell you the truth... I bought it as a hobby car something to work on the weekends. I bought it from some rednecks who said they'd tried or had put milk on the cooling system.  The weren't lying. They also said that they couldn't fix it or nobody could cuz they took it to a shop. 50 bucks later it was barely running and would turn off once in a while. Then I drove it half a block and the heads exploded or just broke into pieces if you would believe that. I fixed all of that and got new heads, but I don't want to bust another 50 bucks to fix it once and for all. I've gone on my friends MR2...WAY BETTER!  If anybody wants it its at my friend Adrian's house... Though I would seriously discourage that. Something else might break its been laying on the same spot for about a year and a half.

Its the fourbanger if you were wondering. I got this LT1 for free (which also has a whole array of problems) to see if I could do the V8 conversion. The engine had 8 owners in about 6 months.
