Why would anyone steal used engine oil? Five quarts of new engine oil is worth around $20, and he would've needed a filter too.

This might be a shameless plug, but I'm looking to sell my stock B18C1 out of my 1996 Integra GS-R with 152k miles for a low low price of only $1,200. It runs well and I use it everyday to get to work and average 26MPG out of it. I'm selling it because a friend has a built B18C1 to offer.

you're right. i wonder why he did it? but still.... i was thinking maybe go with d15b1. i found engine/tranny with about 30k miles. for under 800. what is the hp gain if i do a b18c1?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the d15b1, is honda's early civic 1.5liter non-vtec engine which produces 102hp. So That would be a 68hp increase with a b18c1.

Also, why would you swap in a d15 in a car that originally had a b16?

well what i'm after is the most horsepower for under 2 1/2 grand. please give me your suggestions on what i should do. this 2 1/2 grand is what i can spend on just the engine. i can do the labor. what would you do in my situation? thanks for all the posts so far and keep it up. wow so the 102 horsepower piece of crap....isn't worth the trouble i guess.

I suggest with your price range then the B series, if you had money to blow there's the K series found in the rsx, and tsx, ect.. but with your car and price range I would recommend either a B20 from the CR-V B18s from Integras or the B16s from Civis, and the reason I'm asking $1,200 is because I usually see LS Integra engines with about the same mileage for $1,000 and any less than $1,200 I would benefit from just doing an oem rebuild on it myself and have an engine that'll last me another 200k miles for $1,000.

I'm currently in Southern California, because I go to school at UC Irvine, but every once in a while I go home to Fremont, Ca which is in the Bay Area of Northern California.

Dude the engine in your 1998 civic dx 4 dr is a d16y7 which is a 106 hp engine. It is also non v-tec. It is also a single cam engine. The engine you found the d15b1 would work ,but it is a 1.5 and you already have a 1.6. The other guy trying to sell the worn out b series engine is wasting your time.
If you change your car over to a b series then you also need the wiring harness ,computer, engine mounts , and transmission to start with. Which would be a waste of time for a engine with 160k miles on it. I would recommend you just find another d16y7.Just to let you know, I am a ASE Certified auto mechanic with  over 20 yrs exp working on Imports and Domestic autos and trucks.

If you stay with the d series engine look here ,wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_D_engine#D16Y7. But  if you want to change to a b or k series drive train then I suggest buying a complete jdm front half. You can probably get one for around 2k.
