Is there anything I can do to make my Avenger ES faster or cooler on a limited budget (First Car).  It has the 2.5L V6 w/ auto trans.

Put an autobra on it and call it the Masked Avenger.

I was thinking something more like a turbo or an exhaust system.

haha well bub, a turbo set-up would cost you thousands upon thousands of dollars in parts, labor, and other parts to help with the turbo parts. The Avenger was never intended to have a turbocharged engine, there for it would be a drastic change to the dymnamics of everything. Now you say your on a budget, so a 4g63 swap (from a 90-99 eclipse) is out of the picture.

Exhaust systems are easily affordable just go to your local exhaust shop and tell them what piping you want and how loud you want it lol i guess...

I'm not real sure about what you can do to make your car that much faster...my advise is to try to find a different platform.

Welcome to the world of DSM. I have the 1995 Avenger 4cyl, manual.

Since you're on the budget, the most popular fix for the Mitsubishi 6g72(your car) is the 3.0 swap. The block can be sourced from a late model Mitsubhishi Galant and everything else pretty much bolts on.

Don't be tempted to swap the 6g72-TT from Twin-Turbo 3000GT 6-speed AWD/AWS. That set up won't fit.

Check out www.asog.net and www.aseclub.net. They have lots of people with our cars with budget in mind.

Hope this helps!

few have had their motors running using SRT-4 block with 420a head...too many problems...

but 420a can be turboed for about $1,200.

they're usually next to the brake master cylinder or inside next to the hood latch underneath the dash.
