hey you 08lancer owners, there is a cheaper way to obtain intake system for your lancer to get that nice amount of hp and gas mileage...cheaper than the one you see online...it can be bought off from your local auto store like pepboys, autozone, or kragen...
this way you can save up to $80

look for these spectre performance parts:
airflow sensor mount (dont get it mixed up with adapter)
4" straight tube
air filter cone
brackets
t-bolt clamp
5"x7" gasket (any) needed to make a custom screw fitment of the sensor
worm gear clamp

and you can take care of the rest
ill post a pix on how I did it

Hi guys, I also own a '08 Lancer ES and I love it.

But from what I've heard, the paddle shifters aren't as efficient as the plain manual transmission.  There's something of a small delay when you shift using the paddles in sport shift mode, and that to me, isn't really a big deal.  I mean sure, shifting with out reaching down would be pretty convenient, but if it weren't for that delay when the car shifts gears, I would have gotten the CVT rather than the manual.

alright im thinking about getting a new lancer gts or a mustang, but i really want the lancer. the only thing that is holding me back is the power of the lancer. If i do get the lancer and get an intake system in it, will it mess up the 7 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty? i need to know some pros and cons of the lancer

As an experienced Lancer Tuner, I give you Pros... The new Lancers have the amazing DOHC Mivec engines, which you can squeeze ridicoulus amount of power out of it.  (check out the 1.8L DOHC VTEC capable of producing 500+HP!)  Now, the new Lancer has a 2.0L DOHC MIVEC.  Thats a .2 liter bigger than the vtec.  VTEC what?? right!?? haha... Anyway, it might be a while for roadracemotorsports.com to get more performance Parts out of the new Lancer, but it should be worth the wait.  Now... The Mustang is a powerful machine, but yet again, its a Ford.  and if you do your research, Ford has not been very reliable with their cars latelly with all those recalls...  Plus, it will be harder to find aftermarket parts for a muscle car than for a Tuner.  Yes, you might find the basic mods for a mustang, but thats about it.  Another Con for the Mustang, the trannys are no good after 80k miles...

but at the end, its all up to you man.

After I put the Road Race Motorsports intake on, I spoke to a Mitsubishi service manager at the dealership where I bought it. I asked him if the add on would harm my warranty at all. He responded with that as long as it was a clip on, and I was not changing the internal make up of the engine, I would be fine. I showed him the air filter, had their techs take a look at it, and they all agreed that it would not harm the warranty.
