SSC is planing on doing a project car for the GM brand. People have been saying to do the Cobalt SS/Pontiac G5, but I say they should use Saturn's Ion Redline. One it looks different than the rest not like Pontiac who just put a new nose. Two The Cobalt just looks like an overgrown Aveo. Tell me the truth when you see a cobalt from far away you think its an Aveo. and Three the Ion has a sleek look to it that sets it apart from the rest and doesn't have that hand-me-down look that is a trademark of the GM brands. At least show that Saturn has Sport Compacts too.
Screw Cevy and its ugly sister Pontiac. Go for something that at least looks like a sport compact Saturn and not something that rips off the Skylines tail lights. "You've seen'em don't lie"
Don't forget the Sky roadster too that also looks good most people confuse it for a Z4 beamer.

i would say the cobalt ss or the redline would be two perfectly good candidates. If you're me then you would think either choice is fine. I believe that every domestic car company has exterior and interior designers without fully functioning brains. They just can't get it right.

I would pick the Cobalt SS over the Redline because the Redline's wheelbase is very big for a compact car and reduces its handling. I'd like to see what the Caliber SRT-4's all about though before picking a dometic project car.

the Saturn Sky is just as much GM as a cobalt or solstice, they are all GM. pick your poison

Nothing wrong with a long wheelbase.. while it may lesson the handling in the short term, it increases the stability once you get it sideways.
Personally, I would like to see them do the sky

I think the sky looks cool, but all i really care about right now is to see an ecotec build on an engine, what needs to be swapped and what can stay stock, my vote is for the cobalt, but if you guys wait id go for the Solstice GXP so you can skip the supercharger and go right to the turbo

They should do a late(est) model J-Body (Cavalier or Sunfire). That car is in reach of the most tuners, since there are so many of them around. If they make a new one, I say a standard Solstice or Sky. No GXPs or RedLines. Then make a shootout with an S2000.

tell you the truth i would rather they not waste time on something most of the readers do not want to see (cavelier or sunfire) my vote is still for the cobalt ss. i hate pontiac and their mediocre styling especially the soltice when i saw it i womited all over my dash. Now everytime i turn on the ac chunks start to blow.

the point of having a project car (in my opinion) is to do something economical, yet potent
cobalt ss' / ion RLs are great performers out of the box, however you can't find many under 10k
Jbodies are everywhere.. and any 2000 or newer can be swapped to an L61 ecotec (an easy to find and decently powerful engine)
with some bolt ons, a ported head, cams and injectors I've hit 14.004 @ 96.76mph and I have not touched the bottom end at all with no boost and no nitrous and stock compression, as well as 2.0 60 foots with an open differential
i'm sure SCC could take it further than that, and open the eyes of many readers to the potential of jbodies

I also have a full interior.. no trickery here, just some basic parts on a stock block with no power adders.
