It is all but mine.. the owner is holding it until I get my insurance check.. just have to survive the next three weeks.
It is a 1996 BMW 318Ti Club Sport with the five speed, about as close to an "M-sport" as you can get in the Ti. It only has 95,000 miles and I picked it up for $4500. The colour is "merlot" and is one of the prettier hues that BMW has that is not black or silver

Yup.. that is why out of the 4 cylinder E36s.. the Ti is the most sought after.. small and LIGHT (compartivly) at 2600 pounds

WOO-HOO! Another Bimmer owner, FINALLY! Congrats on the car man. It really sounded like a steal. I love the styling ofthe 318s, they just look so quick and agile.

No, they didn't. While a better seller in europe, it did not fit in with the perception people had of BMW here in the states. After all, they are mostly known for making nice sedans and coupes and then the awesome M series cars.. as a premium brand, the little hatchback just did not fit in.
And it is funny that you like the Ti AMS.. most BMW guys I know HATE it. One of them called it the worst mistake BMW ever made.. except maybe to make a E46 version of it. Because we never got them here in the states, people do not realise that BMW has a long history in making these little cars.. the first one being the 2000 Touring.. basically a hatchback 2002

Yeah I get where your coming from. But to me theres nothing really wrong with it. To me its got great BMW styling in a smaller, lighter car with a good BMW engine, it doesnt even bother me that its not a straight six lol. Personally, I wish BMW made more smaller cars. The cars their coming out with now are like boats, even the 3-series are pretty big. I love the new 1-series though.

Nice man I'm not sure about the styling though one minute I hate it and think it's awkward next time I look @ it I think it's original and intuitive.
But hey I love all the older bmw's the new ones just don't really appeal to me (except the M3)

I will admit it us an "unusual" looking car.. that is one of the reasons I like it. One of the first things I am intending on doing after getting it are 17" rims (it has 16" now) and the E35 M3 front bumper.. unfortunatly, the non-M E36 is rather plain through the bumper.
Also of note.. this car is referred to as the "compact" in europe. For good reason too. From the doors forward it is based on the E36 Sedan which had a shorter nose than the coupe'. It then has the smaller wheel base than the coupe'. The rear is the shortest part of all.. with a rear overhang that is almost non-existant. Cab-forward styling indeed

Ok, where do you find these cars and outrageously low prices and where can I find one?

heh... I always liked the Compact.. so last month I joined a forum dedicated to it. I was intending on selling my tiburon this fall and picking one up. I picked it up cheap from a guy on the forum who wants to get out from his loan and get a WRX

That's a neat car. Congrats. I know the US is anti-hatchback, but I still don't understand why the Ti was so hated. I wouldn't mind finding one at all.
