I haven't bought the new issue yet but in it I saw that they had the application form for the upcoming USCC. Anyone in here hoping to compete in it? We need a local geek to take down those mega dollar goliaths.
When ever I feel my car is at a much better level of performance and I have become a much better driver, I'd lke to compete in it as well.

Sure, all I need is a $40,000 loan, some really talented tuners, and a garage full of every tool you can think of, and I'll start thrashing on my RB26DETT-powered Silvia conversion. It's gonna rip them a new one!

Thats what we need. I say let them keep their mega dollar companies with with there "street cars" and one crazy ass mother *** with a REAL home brewed street machine joins the battle. It wont matter if he wins, just as long if he gives them a run for their money. Civicking, if you do compete, I'll be routing for you the whole way.
I personally don't have the finances to build a real beast to take one of them on, nor the talent (that'll come along the way though), but I do have conections. My dad owns a FAA repair station (he fixes airplanes) and has like ever tool you can imagine. I've been thinking about having his shop build me carbon-fiber replacement body panels for my car, and I pay him for the materials and labor to break even. It'll be a long time before that'll happen, but hey, can't a guy dream?

Give me a couple of years when I get my spider done. Good, classic looks. Miata handling, world class brakes, excellant power to weight, and an exotic powerplant.
Grandma may hate it for the lack of airconditioning.. but that is why it is a convertable.

Don't forget a 14 year-old yellow mr2 won last year! But it didn't make the cover and no dvd has been made of the event!!!
Either way, listen to this quote. The SCC guy in charge of organizing the event, quote "Just so you guys know, you got your asses kicked by a home built 13 year old car. Brad could have gone home and not finished after LACR and still won the contest."

I think grandma likes her wig to stay on.
Now as soon as I can pay for a 98 supra TT, and have about 200 grand left over, then yeah i'll compete. I far prefer the GRM 200x

Man, I got to thinking...it would be SO cool if comeone entered a real sleeper car into the USCC. I'm talking about like a Celica altrac with a turbod 2zz-ge, aggressive suspension and brakes, roll-cage, gutted interior and primer paint to top it all off.
To please the show people there will be a SCC sticker outside and to please grandma there will be a pine tree air freshener inside along with a cup holder.

id love to see a home built car give the tuner companies a run for thier money. personally, i think its unfair to have nothing but tuner shops' show off cars compete. they have near limitless budgets and once the engine blows up on the roadcourse, they just sit down, have a beer and watch the rest of the show.....
madmachine, remember the twin engine RD tiburon? 600 hp! awd!!!
ps the v8 powered rx7 is a sacriledge to the rotary enthusiasts. lost of mazda owners were pissed to see that thing compete. 400 hp from that? a single turbo conversion on the 13b would do 400 as well (and even more) and weigh less and be better balanced. ive seen 3 rotor single turbos with 1000 hp. give me a break!!!!!!!!

So what you saying that you think more private citizens should compete and less company or sponsored cars?

didn't they say that the difference in weight was something like 50lbs between the motors and i kinda see why they went with ta v8 the torque, that's something that the rotary is lacking, remember its all about torque not hp.

I do not think the RX owner cares that he pissed off a lot of rotory lovers. As SCC stated in the article leading up the USCC.. rotary engined cars have NOT fared well in the competition. Face it, the rotary is a fragile machine, in the 3rd gen RX7.. it is a time bomb waiting to go off.
That car had metric tonnes of torque, 400hp, an additionat 50 pounds, got better miliage, and survived the challenge even though the car was not far beyond the breaking in stage.
I would like to see a 3rd gen RX7 with the rotary do that.

if it was me i would have dropped in a f20c and turbo it, that way it would have torque and still rev to 9000 makign it a great track car and the f20c weighs less then the rotary i bet.

If someone is that upset about someones RX-7 with a Chevy engine then they should seek therapy to deal with their anger.
