Our upcoming Hew Hampshire Tuner Car Meet is advertised as targeting sport compact cars. It seems that Mustang owners do not want to be included in this category. Seems to be beneath them to be classified as a sport compact car.

That all depends. Personally, Id say no. A sport compact is something that stems from the K-car era, so its usually got a small displacement 4 or 6 piston engine. the car itself is also usually fairly small (its not a go-kart, but its not a mustang either).
Then again, Gittin drives the Falken Tires Mustang when they go drifting and it makes an easy 750hp. At. The. Wheels.

Not the old ones? I'm not sure what that was referring to but the old Mustangs are much smaller than the 05', which I would definetly not consider a 'sport compact'. The fox body stangs are probably the closest to a sport compact the Mustangs will ever get.

Yeah, I'd say the FoxStangs are the closest to a sports compact

Don't know what your talking about but the 1987 is a more compact car, or is that what your talking about?

Yeah, from my dealings with Mustang owners, even ones with cars that are kitted and have a lot of ICE in them, they don't want to be called tuners even though they are doing import show car-style things to their car. Not even the SVO (turbo I-4 Fox body) owners.

Sure why not. Who cares what a Mustang owner thinks.

The Mustang is considered a midsized coupe.

Yeah, you cant really consider a mustang a compact car. And its true, most mustang owners despise imports and sport compact cars in general, even the fox body owners.

Om3g4, you're pretty right about the k-car thing. I remember driving an 80s Dynasty for a minute and sensing some real potential. But on the other hand, whats a Supra? Its a fat rear drive 2seater with balls that looks really good. Pretty similar to a Mustang, except it costs roughly twice as much to own. Ive been to numerous Ford dealerships trying to test drive a new mustang with v8 and manualy trans but have had no luck thus far. They simply fly off the showroom floor on magic carpets into the hands of Mustang enthusiasts with numerous ponies and sometimes bad credit. The car is simply addicting to drive. Theres just something about being able to downshift on a whim and burn the tires to shreds. Thats my feeling.
