Well I've narrowed my auto's to my top five I'd like to buy once I find one my mom will aprove of and is close enough to check it out. Here's my top five...

1. 1987 Toyota MR2 (or other MKI's)
2. 1985-1987 Toyota Corolla GT-S (AE86)
3. 1992-1993 Toyota Celica (if available, the turbo)
4. 1988 Honda CRX (any of the same gen.)
5. 1980's or early 90's Nissan 300ZX

well there's my choices for now. If you want to modify the list go right on ahead.

**Cringes for your English teacher**

That said, why can't you just go take a look at the car in their driveway?  Anyways, good luck Z and if you get an mr2 you should check out GrassRootsMotorsports, they are doing a first gen. mr2 project car right now.

I am partial to mid engined cars. I have had four of them. 1 Porsche 914, 1 Lancia Beta Montecarlo/Scorpion, and 2 Fiat X 1/9s.

I once almost bought a Lotus Europa.. but the glassfibre around the suspension points was too far gone.

I like mid-engines too. especially the first mr2 because it has the corolla motor in it and that makes it great.

Just remember.. Mid engined cars handle differently than most everything out there. There is almost a steep learning curve as there is to driving the Porsche 911.

With all the mass in the middle, there is no "Pendilum" effect if the car starts to slide. As such, it is harder to catch once you do lose it.

isn't the porsche a rear engine rwd not a mid engine rwd, from what i know porsche motor is behind the rear axle not in front of it. i know this a pic of a toy car but its the same, i could not find a real one showing this.

You're right. It's a RR arrangement.

Speed and power are a mix of mostly three factors: money, motivation, and time. How fast do you want to go and how broke do you want to be when you get there?

i thought so, any thing that is RR is really hard to drive once it starts to slide is basically over it just spins if you don't know how to control it, a true MR car is a lot easier to handle then a RR but can still be a handful if you push it.

the 914 is a mid rear, just like the Boxster. The 911 is rear rear... I know, I have had both a 914 and a 911. My 911 was a 72 and it has a severe learning curve handling wise. You could press and press and press... but do not even think of letting up on the throttle mid corner, it would spin faster than you could think.

The 914 was more forgiving than the 911, but it still needed a delicate hand. Easier to control at the limit, once you went too far, going backwards off of the road was the usual end result.
