Guys, Since this new forum setup is much more gooder than the old one, I think we should mine the old forums for some good content to go along with the good layout.
Soo... I was wondering if anyone feels like helping me look through the old forums for interesting bits of technical or humourous stuff - I'm thinking most longer posts by joegekko, but there would have been a bunch of others by regulars that we've just forgotten, or even by current regulars who just forgot that they made some damned good posts a long time back.
Anyhoo, you guys know how to log into the old forum, and if you don't, I'm sure we can make a nice post on here about how you go about it. Just remember that to find anything of actual merit on the old site, you'll have to use the 'advanced search' with the time frame set to 'beginning of time.'

Here, this short how-to comes from spiritturbo - you can sub in whatever other Primedia mag you want, provided they still use the old forum style.
<If you ever want to, log in to www.jpmagazine.com and go to the forums. Sign in as usual, then when it goes from sign-in to the Jeep forums click on the address bar. Delete "Jpmagazine" and put "sportcompactcarweb". Then where it says "jpmag" in the address, delete that and put "sccmag". Hit return and that will send you to the old posts.>

Sure, any tech stuff is definitely good fodder for the boards, plus I might even benefit from that guide, seeing as my engine's only a 12 valve...

ok here are some quotes i foudn of myself, you can rearrenge them as you wish:
"the turbo(t3) that comes in the kit(www.turbo-kits.com) is the same turbo the comes in the dodge shadow/600/aries/caravan and so forth. its an ok turbo but from what i know its only good to about 250hp maybe 325 but i think thats pushing it. its not a bad kit and from the looks of it its got a prety good engine management system." "my opinion for the best truck is the new ford f150,(even though i own a chevy) that has to be the best hands down truck, now for as far as a city truck I would say the toyota tacoma, chevy colorado, and even the new honda ridgeline is a good truck, its not a fullsize truck, but it competes with the smaller trucks and for that i think it does great, if you don't think its great go to a dealer and test drive one, i was like dang it drives nice."
"its spelled v-tec, not vtech like the phone, and it means variable valve timing and valve lift electronic control system"
"your asking too little form a twin turbo setup a 350 with twin turbos running about 12psi can pound out 850+hp with ease, i would say for you stick to a supercharger, it will get you to the 600hp mark easily and without all the piping problems. if you really want a twin turbo i would say don't waste yoru money on a junk yard build banks power makes a bolt on twin turbo kit for the chevy 350 and they have gotten over 1200hp from this kit at 20psi."
" 2116.4 in reply to 2116.1 i think the 4L v8 that is in the lexusa the JGTC(now known as SuperGT) toyotas use too. and they are pumping out 500hp, so i think you can built it to what you want, you sould take a look the those cars. i think they sue the 4.3L 3uz-fe motor that cme in the GS430 luxus so you have a pretty good plant there. here is a good comparison betwwen the motor you have the 1uz-fe and the 3uz-fe http://www.lextreme.com/3uzblock.html"
" 2136.12 in reply to 2136.11 i like some domestics just not all, like i think american trucks are the best trucks when it comes to doing heavy hauling or towing. i like some of the old sports cars ( cobra, corvette stingray, and actually the early 90's mustang) but some i hate like i hate how the corvette now is too refined and i would love to see more technology in it(motor and trans wise) but less in the interior and stuff, kinda like the new ford mustang gt500 . but if i had to choose any car in the world i would go back to my roots (i'm 1/3 italian) so i would have to choose a ferrari, i mean there is no other car in the world like a ferrari, its fast, drives great, its really reliable, and you can take it to a track on the weekend and go shopping with it during the week."
i got more coming.....

Thanks for the advice on how to browse past posts. I was under the impression they were lost forever. By the way, I test drove an 06 STi recently and was extremely impressed. Your'e right for being loyal to Subaru. You can tell in the fit and finish, as well as the engineering, that they were designed to be driven forever. GM and Mazda and Ford should fear the day they venture into the roadster realm. For now Ill dream though. Also, "damn your GA mongrel dialect"... in reference to "much more gooder".
