Guys... it gets worse... the tone of Coleman's Technobabble indicates he is leaving as well... or at minimum, no longer writing that column...
To me it's sickening... basically Primedia has torn the heart out of what I know as Sport Compact Car. Not only did these two know their stuff, their writing style rocked. (If you ever try to get to the end of a Road&Track article without falling asleep, or puking, you know wherein I speak...) And Jacquot could throw it down with his photography.
I lay 10-to-1 odds that SCC will become either: 1) some tome of homogenized, politcally correct pablum, driven from automaker "news releases", or 2) hyper-bling tossed with T&A aimed at seventeen year olds possessing the IQ of a bent tire rim.

As sad as this all is, I'd not be willing to bet against those odds.. By the way, I loved the tire rim analogy.

I'm beginning to lose hope in SCC as well. I hope that if it takes either of the two turns toeside suggested, Primedia will either sell it to someone who'll actually make it like the old SCC we all knew and loved (unlikely) or they'll let it die out with at least a shred of dignity (more likely, minus the dignity part).

Hopefully, Coleman isn't leaving, he just didn't have anything to really rail on about. After all, he did have to divert his massive nerdly brain into that Zeroshift article.
How about we run fantasy picks for editor? Me, I like Kojima. He's as nerdy and condescending as the rest of us.
I can't see Primedia turning it into a Super Suckers copy. I just can't. Like it or not, they're a business, and you can't just make that kind of a paradigm shift without completely wiping out your subscriber base. I CAN see them selling the mag to someone else who may or may not make it into a chrome-n-titties mag.
I suggest we threaten to steal Project TSX, load it up with C4, and drive it jihad-style into the Primedia offices if they disobey us. Or rather, let's use the tC. I hate that car a little more.

Yeah... he said C4 and Jihad in the same sentence.. Might as well add in a "durka durka" or three while you're at it. :P

Clearly, we need to employ a baiting strategy, if we are to properly extinguish the taint that Primedia leaves on everything it owns. Remote controlled project TSX laden with C4 will be used as the bait - something shiny followed by a loud bang should draw the ADHD sufferers inside out to gawk, and then we sidle up with the waste of space that is project tC, filled to capacity with Playboy magazines with "JDM" stickers strategically applied to the covers. Once all of the staff have left the building, we drop a cargo net on the lot of them, and relocate them to a camp in the tundra of Canada, for ... re-education.

Where does the line start to enact this revolutionary plan?

In that case, I'll be the camp warden! };-)>

I was talking mainly about eliminating Primedia as the only threat to our existence.
There is still hope for SCC! They can avoid re-education! Coleman is a good soul. We just have to chain him to his desk to make sure he keeps spitting out Geek-Speak instead of doing silly things like spending time with his family. Then, we'll harness the power oh the lightening bolts that erupt from Kojima's brain whenever he's thinking about spring rates to power a massive "laser" with which to destroy every factory that makes underbody neons, asinine chrome rims, 7" LCD screens, and ricey wings that don't make downforce.
The "laser" will be mounted on the next R32, Jetta wagon, WRX wagon, or the like that some company lets us drive. We need the wagon so we can secure Kojima laid out on his back, with someone back there to ask him questions about damping force.

The other direction that you could go with the transport vehicle would be to use something that the Primedia Hivemind would never even consider to modify - I'm thinkin an AMC Eagle 4X4 here - you know the one...
Hrmmm.... Geek-powered-Laser...
