Ok I have an 89' Accord that I bought a few months back for $500. Its automatic and has the stock engine and 13" rims and tires, but that doesn't matter. I've recently decided to make it a project car. (wow!) I want to make it standard if possible, put some lower end upgrades like some enkei 15" RPF1 rims w/ a set of Falken RT-615 sticky rubber, followed by a Tokico coil over kit, and KYB dampers. Topped of with powerslot rotors and Hawk street pads. The only cunundrum I'm having is

*** Should I do an engine Swap or
b.) Keep the engine and drivetrain do a bunch of bolt ons.

Open to options here. Though I'm leaning towards the engine swap. If this thread shows twice I have no clue why believe me.

what engine are you exactly gonna cram in there? and how much money are you willing to spend? cause you could always get a newer  engine to minimize problems after the swap if you've got the money. but If I had the money I'd definately do an engine swap, but keep the old engine.

you might as well swap since the engine is probably quite old. that will also get you your tranny. I think that would be the most effective thing you could do to bring out some character in that car.

Well since the competition here isn't that tough and by that I mean its pathetic even by a beginers standard. (remeber "The Truth" issue?) I guess I could just stick with the pudgy engine until I can come up with more money. I don't want to go over 3,500 since it wouldn't be practical for an 89'. Right now I'm just upgrading computers from other scrap computers and selling them untill I can find a steady job again. Tip of advice don't work for GM or any of its subsidiaries (specially) they tend to close down. ***

Well for what type of engine I might be using my friend is giving me his crashed 91' CRX once I get a truck to haul it on. I could use the engine and Tranny and just trash the body and get $20 for the metal.
