I was flipping through Super Street on break today (hey, I was bored! So sue me...), and as it turns out, they're making a magazine specifically for budget tuners. Project Car will focus on a Civic (I forget what year/chassis), a 90 240SX, and a 1st gen turbo DSM and do buildups on each (i.e, turn the DSM into a budget drag racer). It comes out Nov. 14 and I plan on leafing through it. Here's hoping it's focused on tuning intead of SS's purile humor.

Yup, you got it right. Everything is gonna be budget, which is really refreshing. Ricky's taking it back to the driveway with this one.

I picked up the mag about a week ago. I think its great. I don't even own either of the 3 cars, but enjoyed the DIY layout, and that you had 3 drivetrains to chose from(fwd, rwd, awd).
To bad the next issue won't come out until next year. What's up with that? Why put out a awesome mag that you can't even get a subscription to?
This would be 10x's better if you did this with Evo's, Subies, Ss/Sc Cobalt's, srt-4's, 350Z's, S2000's, Miata's, Integra's just to name a few.

Then it'll be called Sport Compact Car. Try reading the project cars around here sometime. They do their best at saving a few bucks here and there. But I don't doubt "Project Car" will be a great mag. Frankly it sounds great.

"Project Car mag" has a DIY layout, that you could take to the garage.
SCC's project car section is just info on the build up, but doesn't tell you step-2-step how they installed it.
Check it out next time your at the magazine stand.

I actually have a copy... and it's pretty good, actually. Not great, but good. For a complete tuning rookie like me, the "hold-your-hand" approach and low difficulty level of most of the projects helped me get a grasp on what I need to do. I'm glad it's focusing on cheap-ass cars because that's all I can afford right now. The D16 EG Civic build leans a little on the ricey side with the carbon fiber hood, but at least they said at the start it was supposed to be a clean streeter and they avoided bodykits (except a tasteful lip). There were also audio install tips, but it's just head units rather than SS's usual decibel-drag equipment. Most of SS's juvenile humor has been removed, too, and aside from the ads and aforementioned Civic parts there's little rice.

I like the more realistic budget that Project Car uses & I'm looking forward to Project Car's next installment (I think it comes out 2-14).

anyone have any info? I really enjoyed the first one, and can't wait for the second installment. It would be a shame if it didn't come out till next year. It is supposed to be seasonal.
it's not even listed on primedia's site
